[ he honestly shouldn't have left her alone in his apartment. she's sure clark tells him all the horrible things she does to hurt his sensitive flannel-covered feelings every time they hang out to do god know what. play xbox? watch sports? lois has never seen either of them do anything like that.
so, oliver was out doing billionaire things while she was left alone to cause havoc in his apartment. lois never does well when left alone in a place that isn't her own. they were going to spend a quiet night in, doing the coupley things they never get a chance to do, and, as true to every other night lois popped over, oliver had to bail temporarily.
in order to keep her sticky fingers from rifling through his things, she decided to surprise him with that dinner they never quite make it to.
and, of course, it turns disastrous. there's so much smoke that even the open doors leading to the balcony aren't wide enough to let the smoke out quickly. the smell still lingers after she sprays so much air freshner and perfume around the place. the meal, a nice spaghetti martha tried teaching her countless times (while lois was standing very far away) is burnt to a crisp.
she really, really hopes oliver's got his cellphone on him. the one thing in her usually over-packed handbag is missing. besides, if he's on his way home, she needs to pretend her cooking failure never happened. and that requires way more time than she'll be given to get rid of the evidence and to push the smell out. ]
Please please please buy brown eye liner on your way home in the morning... I'm missing an eyebrow

Neitherless to say, the moment he had been able to leave the disaster site Clark had caused, he had made his way back to the Clock Tower. He wasn't worried about Lois find his Green Arrow gear, that was tightly locked in a secure wall. No, he was worried about the young woman had done something completely irreparable, like breaking the Ming Dynasty vase on his desk, or rip the plush cashmere carpet. Not that it really mattered to him in the end.
Still, the text message he had received from her three blocks down from his apartment building only added to his worry.]
Got it. I knew I should hide the razors before leaving ;)
[He was now on his way to the elevator, deeply hoping his joke wouldn't turn out to be the truth]

[ except NOT! lois really hopes he's in australia right now because the clock tower still reeks of smoke and she's afraid she's going to break something by waving one of the towels in the air in an attempt to push it outside. of all the things to happen! oliver bails all the time, which is pretty much the norm, and she's stopped taking it so personally. (sort of, but not really.) but this? he might take this personally; her acting out when it comes to him posting 'brb' and leaving just when the fun is about to start. ]
Hypothetical situation. Where do you keep your portable fans? Though, would prefer if these fans were NOT hypothetical.
[ she will not even notice the elevator, as she's too busy jumping up and down, trying to wave the stupid smoke out of the balcony now. ]

[Oliver couldn't help the frown creasing his brow as he read the second part of Lois' IM on his phone. Pressing the elevator's button to his penthouse a few times more, in the vain hope that it would get him there quicker, the blond started to type something on his phone when the door finally dinged and opened on the private entrance to his place.
A few long strides and he was looking around, brown eyes searching for the brunette he had left alone at his place.]
Lois? Why do you need...
[And was then that it hit him. The acrid smell of smoke, of something having terribly burned down and having put out with water. Leaning over the corner to check the kitchen, his lips curled into a amused smile as he watched the journalist trying to get rid of the smell by waving a towel on the balcony. Material damage was nothing he concerned himself with, as long as the woman he was slowly falling in love with was all right.]
Should I take it that we're ordering in tonight?
[The playful light in his eyes should be enough for Lois to know that he wasn't taking this personally. Though, he was in the obligation of a retell of this moment the next time Martha would ask them to have dinner at the Clark's farm.]

[ she enters from the balcony, looking a tad pathetic. then, she gives him a sheepish grin. ] Some surprise, huh? I promise I didn't try to burn down your apartment on purpose.
[ she drops the rag on the couch, deeming her mission to get the smoke out before oliver turns home a complete and utter failure and shortly follows thereafter, falling down upon it, absolutely defeated. ]
You want to dial? I don't quite trust these fingers.

As she drops to the couch, he joins her there, sitting down beside her before gathering her in his arms. Kissing her head before looking down at her, Oliver smiles warmly at her, though there's a touch of concern in his eyes]
I know you didn't do it on purpose Lois. Are you all right?
[He reaches for her hand and kissing her fingertips, his smile turning into a playful smirk]
They have other talents than cooking. You should really have more faith in them.

I thought that if I made something memorable, maybe you wouldn't take those business calls of yours during our dates. [ she does sometimes wonder why business comes before pleasure with oliver, but hasn't exactly addressed the issue before. he's a man of secrets, and she's still getting to know him, but if it's something to do with her, then she wants to know what's the go. ]
